5 Things About Me I've Learned to Love

“Self-love has very little to do with how you feel about your outer self.  It’s about accepting all of yourself.” -Tyra Banks

Hey young loves, how are you?  I hope this post doesn’t come off too superficial.  If it does, well I mean come on have we met? JK JK.  Anyway here are 5 things I’ve learned to love about me.

My Eyebrows

Before thick eyebrows were in, I hated mine they were so bushy and thick.  I'm talking Bert and Ernie, whichever one of them had the thick eyebrows because I can’t even bother to Google it.  Now I love them.  If I get them done and they are messed up I know that they will grow back in like a week because well…I’m a werewolf.

My Lips

Smooches!  Shout out to these soup coolers.  When I was younger I used to get made fun on for having such big lips.  Now I’m pretty please with them, people have surgery now to have full lips.  Oh and kissing is super fun.  (Hi mom)

My Shape

I was super skinny for a long time.  Then one day I just woke up and I was a woman.

My Skin Complexion

I love being dark skin now, but I didn’t always like that.  I’ve since embraced it I wear bright colors clothes, lipstick and whatever I want.  Who cares what ASAP Rocky says.

My voice

I would say I love it now but I’ve accepted it.  I don’t like to hear myself.  It’s so weird because I know people who love to hear themselves talk.  So because I have to talk a lot more, I decided to challenge myself even more and, what? Say what now?  I have a video?  Why yes I do.  Check out my video below or here if you can't see it.

As always thank you for reading (and watching).  –Ms. D

Puerto Plata Travel Tips

Hey young loves, how is everyone today.  Are ya'll tired of the Vegas, Miami and Cancun posts yet?  Geez it's like the whole world's turnt up for Memorial Day.  But any who I took my vacation last week, because I had to avoid the Memorial Day hoopla.  I just can’t live that life.  I’m just not about it.

I visited Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.  When choosing this destination I was up in the air about either Punta Cana or Puerto Plata.  I chose Puerto Plata because I thought I was getting a really good deal on my hotel. But errrr just read my tripadvisor review here because that’s as much as I’m going to say about that.  Over all it was a good vacation but to be honest I was kind of underwhelmed in general.  However, I will still share all the good stuff.  So here it goes.

Dominican Outback Safari

This is the truck that took us around.

The tour took us to see a typical Dominican home, so this is me posing up in the people’s living room like I live there.  Hey they said to get comfortable.

This was one of the best parts of the tour.  The tour company sponsors a school so they took us there to meet some of the children, they were so cute my ovaries actually jumped, but the feeling was fleeting.

We had lunch and then after that they took us to their mini zoo where they had, crabs, snakes, crocodiles, and my friend pictured here Mr. Turtle.

The last stop on the tour they took us to a private beach where you could get massages, go boogie board, or just relax.  There were also some random cows that rolled up on us.  Sorry no pics of that as I was too busy running for my life.  Hey I’m a city girl.

Diamond Beach and Blue Lagoon Excursion

First stop was at Diamond Beach.  What I loved about this beach was that it was shallow the entire way out.  For someone like me who cannot swim, it’s a great experience to finally be able to go past the shoreline.

Second stop was at Dudu Blue Lagoon.  No after I just finished telling ya’ll I can’t swim you know I’m just faking it for the camera.

After we had lunch, we went to another beach.  This one was way different from Diamond Beach.  The waves were so rough I couldn’t stand it.

I also took a trip to downtown Puerto Plata, and enjoyed the beach at out hotel as well.  As to not make this posts ridiculously long.  I have all my pictures on my Flickr account you can check them out here.

And hold up wait what did you say?  She has video?  Yes check out some clips as well on my YouTube channel you can see them here:

As always, thank you for reading.  Find me turning down all over social media:

P.S. Dominican Republic charges a $10 tourist travel fee for you to even get past security.  Also if when returning if you have to pay to check a bag the fee is actually taxed so that annoying $25 fee turns to $30.  Whomp Whomp.

7 Songs I Will Listen to for the Rest of My Life

Hey young loves, ya missed me?  I just wanted to mention that I have been having some serious issues with Blogger and I have yet to figure it out and I am trying so hard.  However, I decided to come back really quickly to get back into the swing of things.

I saw this really cute post on Ms.NaturallyRandom’s blog and I decided to do the same as well.  Hers is called "10 Songs That I’ll listen to For the Rest of My Life."  But of course I'm difficult so I decided to do 7.  Hmmm not sure why I chose that number, but I did.  So here they go.

You Are Everything- Mary J. Blige

Why?  Ok so this was supposed to my wedding song I swear.  Also I heard Kanye and Kim will have this as their wedding song too.  They wanna be me so bad.

Angel of Mine- Monica

Why?  Remember the MTV show TRL?  Well along time ago I waited outside forever just to see here and she performed this song that day.

Foolish- Ashanti

Why?  Honestly it was the first time I saw Terrance Howard and just thought he was so FINE.

I love You- Faith Evans

Why?  Because I love you, I want you and you're the one that I live for, that's why.

These Are The Times- Dru Hill

Why?  This was one of the first CD's I bought with my own money, plus they played this as the last dance at my junior high prom...because of course it was so damn age appropriate.

Just Like That- R. Kelly

Despite all his ISH, R. Kelly will always be my the MAN.

Unpretty- TLC

Why?  Because a list without TLC seemed wrong, and also I had self-esteem issues and this song spoke to me then.

So that is all my loves, this kinda made a thug tear up a lil bit.  If you have any favorite songs that you will love forever and ever, please comment and let’s discuss.  As always, thank you for reading- Ms. D

A Mini Post: April Recap

I would say this month has been pretty great.  I went on vacation, picked up better eating habits and I also celebrated my anniversary

I hope to dedicate May to living and learning.  I am going to take a tiny step back and forward (if that makes any sense).  The point is to figure out where I want to go with this blog and social media in general.  I mean I have to get started on those blog goals already right?  So guys, wish me LUCK.

As always, thanks for reading as always- Ms. D
