Summer Isn't Over Yet

Hey Young Loves, I hope you guys are enjoying your summer.  But let us please realize IT'S NOT OVER YET!!  Anywho, I live here in NYC.  I think anyone who ever reads my blogs or watches my videos has to know that.  Ok where was I?  Well I live here in NYC, and we get a lot of tourists in the summer.  However Times Square is fun and everything, but at the end of the day it is a tourist trap.  So if you and your friends or family are heading to NYC this summer, check out a few fun and affordable things to do in NYC this summer.

Brooklyn

Coney Island and Luna Park are located in Brooklyn, NY.  Whether you want to ride a few rides, walk the board walk, head to the beach or catch a show.  Coney Island is the place to do it.  If you’re feeling romantic, take a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge.  If you want to feel cultured and take in some art there’s always the Brooklyn Museum.

Manhattan

I don’t even know where to start with Manhattan.  Yes you can head to Times Square like I mentioned before.  To the ever so popular Madame Tussaunds, Ripley’s Believe It or Not or you check out a show on Broadway.  I personally would say check out some of the SummerStage concerts, they are free but make sure you get there early.  Also there tend to be more deals during the week.  Some of my favorite websites to find events in the city include Meetup.com, NYCGO.com or Socialeyes.com.

The Bronx

Isn’t it hilarious how it literally is “The Bronx” and not just “Bronx?”  But no really it is.  There are a few things to do here in the Bronx.  I would definitely say to check out the Bronx Zoo for a fun filled day event.  Orchard beach is also an option if you’re looking for beach trip.  If you like some great food, City Island has a plethora of restaurants to choose from.

Queens

So I will say, I rarely go to Queens.  However once you get to the airport, well then there, you been to Queens. Okay okay, jk jk.  Queens has so many things to offer.  I would suggest heading on down to the Museum of Moving Images if you’re a movie buff and even if you’re not.  If you want to have some fun in the sun, well then head on over to Rockaway Beach.  Another option is to check out some exhibits at Moma Psi.  Oh and it’s free for kids under 16.  However, the grown folk can head there on Saturday nights for music.

Staten Island

Ok….I tried.  You can go to the Staten Island zoo…I guess.  Listen I’m not even going to give myself a head ache over here on this forgotten borough.

Well that’s it folks, let me know if you plan of visiting NYC this summer or if you already have.  Let me know what did you do or where you are going.  Do tell.

As always thank you for reading

Keep Calm: Birthday Extras

Hey Young Loves, yes I know three blog posts in a row.  However, like I said I didn’t want the posts to be too cluttered so I separated them.  This last post is dedicated to the most important part of my birthday…my outfits.  Tehehe.  For some reason I couldn’t get the color orange out of my mind.  It’s all I thought about since like January, no lie.  So when I found the perfect dress and shoes I knew it was meant to be.

(Yes I found whatever I was looking for)

(Still looking)

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Wild Rose via GoJane
Bag: Ivanka Trump via TJ Maxx
Watch: Marc Jacobs
Jewelry: Forever 21
Hair: Her Hair Company

Dress: Lila Rose via TJ Maxx
Shoes: Steve Madden
Purse: Bisou Bisou via JC Penny
Jewelry: Forever 21

I didn’t have a huge celebration so I didn’t want a big cake or anything it would have just been a waste of money and well...if you come here often then you guys know how I feel about that.  I thought about cupcakes but that wasn’t hitting for it either.  So after I got my nails done I was walking along the street and spotted a bakery and on a whim went inside.  They suggested to get cake pops and I was so in love with them.

Oh and gifts are always nice J

Keep Calm: Go Shawty It's Ya Birthday

Hey Young Loves, before you read this next b-day post check out my prior post here.  So to continue the celebration, I went out to dinner with my family on Monday July 13th.  I didn’t feel like traveling to Manhattan during the week, so I decided to go somewhere in the outskirts of the city.  I had my dinner at Madison Kitchen in Larchmont, NY.  The place was a lot smaller than I thought it would be.  Nonetheless it was very nice. (Tenemos fancy and stuff)  The option for non-shellfish or pork eaters are slim.  Now if the food wasn’t absolutely delicious, I would complain.

Keep Calm: Birthday 2015

Hey Young Loves, long time no write?  I say pretty much the same thing every time so I’m not even going to bother with the excuses.  Just know that I do plan on doing BEDA again, so pray for me and my fingers (pause).  Oh and definitely a few YouTube videos as I am still trying to get comfy being myself in front of the camera.  Anyway I had to come back because Monday was my birthday and yes it was a milestone.

I had a wonderful time with my friends and family.  I went to two awesome places and I wanted to review them and share some pictures.  I’m going to break it up into a few blog posts just so the page won’t be so cluttered.  Oh I also went on vacation to Jamaica for Independence Day weekend but I don’t have that many pictures…buuuuuuut I will do a post about that later.

So Sunday July 12th I went to brunch at Amity Hall.  The restaurant is located in the west village.  They offer and unlimited Mimosas or Bloody Mary’s with brunch on the weekends from open to 4 pm.  We chose to have Mimosas along with our food.

Afterwards we decided to take a stroll to Washington Square Park which was about a block away.  There were some street performers and such.  They were ehhh ok.

Then we headed over to The Half Pint.  This restaurant is actually the sister location to Amity Hall and they are literally next door to each other.  We went there and had some drinks and the bartender gave us a few shots on the house.

Around 5:45 pm we headed back over to Amity Hall for a PaintNite event.  This was something I have seen trending over social media for a while.  If you haven’t hear of it, PaintNite sets up different events across different cities.  In a nutshell you drink, laugh and paint.  The instructor gives you step by step instructions and hopefully your painting comes out great.  However, just like they warned us I will warn you and say “make sure you don’t drink the paint water.”

"Welcome to New York, We've Been waiting For You"

Hey young loves, I was going back and forth whether to post this or not.  The show ends May 7th, so if you’re interested in going you only have a really short window.  Therefore if you’re interested get on it ASAP.  I like to review things earlier so people have time to get tickets etc. etc.

Anywho, on April 22nd, I went to see the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City.  It stars Derek Hough from Dancing with the Stars.  However, he was injured that day so his understudy filled in.  (I checked his Instagram and he really was hurt lol)

I give the show 5/5.  I loved it.  I loved the story line.  I loved that they modernized it but also kept it old school.  The outfits were on point.  Without telling the whole story, it is similar to the Christmas version.  They take you through parts of NYC and of course you learn a lesson in the end.  Here are a few pictures I took.   I hope if you’re visiting NYC in the near future or on a Stay-Cation you get the chance to see it before it over.

I'm turning Two

So since this isn’t MySpace, just click here and play it in the background…

Hey Young Loves, guess who’s turning TWO?  Well www.foreverdionne.com is celebrating its second anniversary and I’m super excited.  Even though I’m on hiatus (grad school prison sentence) I had to come back to celebrate.  Oh and I really did celebrate.  I went out to lunch with some co-workers for, but in my head it was also still a celebration.

We went to a Thai place in Washington Heights called Raine 2.

It had a pretty good lunch special.  The food was very flavorful.

I’m not going to lie, from the outside during the day, it’s not that appealing.  However, you can tell at night the place looks even better.

The restaurant is even a BYOB.  So I guess they get turnt up in there I’m not sure.  I mean any restaurant that I can go to at 12 pm noon and hear the unedited version of Fetty Wap’s “Trapqueen” is good in my book.

Well thank you for coming by and helping me struggling along for two years.  If you’re new here then welcome and please check out my other content.
